Top Story: WWF TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAIN AGAINST WWE, INC.
- The Worldwide Fund for Nature is once again seeking legal action against World Wrestling Entertainment. In a story that appeared Sunday in the UK's Telegraph newspaper, it was confirmed that a formal claim for damages was pending. The article states that the Fund will be seeking several million pounds over the use of the 'WWF' initials, even though the Federation changed it's name to WWE earlier this year. WWE officials - told about the news on Friday - were said to be furious about it and according to the article, they said it's "offensive" and "unprecedented for a charity to be engaged in". WWF-UK CEO Rob Napier said that the wrestling company did extensive damage to its brand by using the name illegally and although he didn't reveal the size of damages, he said they would consider an out-of-court settlement.
